YOU CAN SLEEP NOW THE SUN HAS GONE DOWN

Here’s my poem from last week, the theme being ‘warmth & passion’..

YOU CAN SLEEP NOW THE SUN HAS GONE DOWN

On the floor near the foot of the bed

there’s a scarf that the sun wants to touch

but the scarf it was thrown by a girl

who was mad at the weight of its sin

and the scarf it was cursed with the scent

of the room and the dust of a rose

that her man in his way sent with love

he was strong but his heart it was lame

so the sun it got close as it could

but its rays they were broke and too late

for the scarf it was gone like the girl

she had leapt like a frog out of bed

with the scarf on her neck she was found

on a road with a gun in her hand

and a note in her purse with the words

you can sleep now the sun has gone down.
