I had fun writing a sonnet on the Transparency theme. Fitting everything into the sonnet structure was a challenge!
By common view, my mistress is opaque.
The world sees but the surface of her days.
Her private depths are shrouded, for my sake,
For I alone explore their hidden ways.
In contrast, I am all transparency.
The world sees every aspect of my life.
My soul laid bare to measure, mark and weigh.
My heart revealed, as by a surgeon’s knife.
But which of these describes the truer pass?
Look on my mistress and you see her fair.
But look on me; ’tis as you look on glass.
Your eyes pass through for they find nothing there.
So if I cling so hard, my mistress wife,
It is to bring some meaning to my life.
